The
Mini Store LLC (TMS) is less
than a month away from introducing the first American built production
Mini sailboat to the North American market. The Owen
Clarke designed M65
is being introduced as a new One Design class. To date, more than
$140,000 has been invested in the design, engineering and tooling
of the M65,
and market development.
TMS has received more than 150 M65
inquiries over the past year from prospective customers in the
US, Canada and a dozen other countries. TMS
expects to book at least four initial M65
orders - 2 in FL, 1 each in NY and QU - upon satisfactory test
sails of the first M65
by four customer prospects. Target launch is late September, with
the formal debut to the sailing world at the Annapolis
Boat Show in October.

Atop
the mast of Alex MeVay's production Mini.
Boston • May 2006
On
October 30th, Alex finished the 2007 Mini
Transat, racing the little boat that lies almost 30
feet below me, across 4,200 nautical miles of ocean from France
to Brazil . . . alone. In doing so, Alex became only the sixth
American to have finished the Mini Transat
in its 30 year history.
